Saturday 26 September 2009
In typical fashion, Bundanoon turned on its country village charm, all 4 seasons in 90 minutes, and its 4 water fountains and refill stations on Saturday 26 September to a large gathering of the community, visitors and local and international press.
The official opening began on the steps of the Bundanoon Memorial Soldiers' Hall with a slice of Serendipity: the choir singing 'Bundy Fantastic'. The gathered crowd then followed a piper and proceeded to the grounds of Bundanoon Public School where the first of 4 water fountains and water refill stations was opened. Bundanoon School choir and student soloist sang 'Bundy Fantastic' while water fairies danced.
The piper then led the gathering to the next fountain and refill station located outside the Post Office, where another ribbon was cut before proceeding to the 3rd water refilling station next to the Old Goods Shed.
The final ribbon cutting took place at the 4th and final fountain and refill station outside the Primula Cafe. By this stage it had been windy, cloudy, had hailed a little, witnesses reported a small period of sleet and eventually it started to rain; but not before all speeches were done and the slice of Serendipity had closed the ceremony with a final rendition of 'Bundy Fantastic' inviting the public to join in.
