As Serendipity was rehearsing for its first 2009 concert, the Bundanoon choir's newest member was getting ready to enter the world.
Soprano Karen Granger's first baby, Caelan Patrick, arrived on May 8, and the choir's 30 members are already assuming honorary aunt and uncle roles.
"Master Granger arrived less than 24 hours after our Thursday night rehearsal; so his ‘journey' began with the sounds of the choir ringing in his ears," Serendipity music director Kerith Fowles said.
"In fact, the last thing we sang that night was 'Steppin' Out with My Baby', believe it or not."
Just as the music guided baby Caelan into the world, Serendipity's concert this Saturday will take the audience on a voyage of discovery with the first performance of the program 'Journeys'.

COMMUNITY MUSIC: Serendipity members perform during their concert last year. Karen Granger (second row, far left) just delivered her first baby, who is destined to join the ranks of the Bundanoon choir.
